Fog hangs over a salt marsh as this Great Egret (Ardea alba ) executes a graceful landing on a mudflat.
The Great Egret just landed and starts to fold up its wings. I enjoy photographing Egrets when they takeoff and land because of all the different wing positions that occur.

I never saw an Egret stick its tongue out. As I was photographing this Great Egret (Casmerodius albus) wading along the shore, the Egret suddenly opened its beak wide, stuck its tongue out and shook its head. In a split second, it was over. The Egret continued on and appeared just fine.
