I spent a winter's afternoon photographing the antics of a group of Sanderlings (Calidris alba) slipping and sliding off the beach rocks, running on the beach sand and feeding on snails in the surf.

These Sanderlings (Calidris alba) were feeding on the beach when suddenly one of the Sanderlings turned on the other Sanderling. It was over in seconds and both continued on down the beach.
